Understanding Your Body Through Change.
Deborah Long Osteopathy
-
Hi, I’m Deborah.
I’m a registered osteopath (GOsC) with a Master of Osteopathy degree and over 20 years’ experience across rehabilitation, movement, Pilates, fitness and patient education.
My path into osteopathy grew naturally from many years of working with people through movement and rehabilitation. Before qualifying as an osteopath, I worked across Pilates, fitness and massage therapy, supporting people experiencing musculoskeletal pain, injury and changes in mobility, strength and function.
My osteopathic experience has also included working within a multidisciplinary pain-management setting, supporting people with persistent and complex pain presentations. This strengthened something I had come to recognise throughout my career: pain rarely exists in isolation. Good care begins with listening, understanding the person behind the symptoms and looking beyond simply where it hurts.
Today, I have a particular interest in women’s health, persistent pain and the physical changes that can accompany midlife, perimenopause and menopause.
My approach brings together osteopathic assessment and hands-on treatment with my background in rehabilitation, Clinical Pilates, functional movement and patient education. This allows us to consider your symptoms within the wider picture — how you move, what may be influencing how you feel and recover, and what could help you feel more confident in your body beyond the treatment room.
I believe care should feel collaborative rather than something that simply happens to you. I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, understand the reasoning behind your care and feel involved in the decisions we make together.
Because when you understand more about your body, you are better placed to work with it.
As your body changes, understanding why can change everything.

Osteopathy is a regulated healthcare profession that focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of musculoskeletal problems and how they may affect your overall health and function.
Osteopaths take a patient-centred approach, considering not only where you are experiencing pain or discomfort, but also your medical history, movement, lifestyle and individual circumstances.
Treatment is tailored to you and may include hands-on techniques such as joint mobilisation, soft tissue treatment, stretching and massage, alongside movement, exercise and practical advice to support recovery and help you manage your health with greater confidence.
In the UK, the title Osteopath is protected by law, and practising osteopaths must be registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC).
